| PHIL CODY | |||
| Big
slow mover is a term coined by Southern California weathermen to describe
the mudslides that occur during heavy rains. Slow to start and hard to get
rolling, but when they break loose, look out. Phil may feel this is a description
of how he feels at times but his songs and the album are anything but slow
in getting started. Bad luck and a twist of fate that almost ended his life turned into a new beginning for Phil. After an auto accident left him healing he picked up his guitar, learning to write songs. Back on his feet he started playing with local, mostly cover, bands. Playing other people's music and only occasionally slipping in songs of his own left him with the drive to leave and make his own way. Phil picked up and left for California, landing in the LA area. Playing and recording demos, a series of wage-slave stints just reinforcing his desire to play music for a living. He eventually came to the attention of Interscope Records. Phil's first record, "The Sons Of Intempreance Offering," was recorded in much the early rock-n-roll style of get the band together in one room, play it, record it live. Produced by Thom Wilson (Offspring), fourteen of the thirty songs recorded appear on the album. Immediately afterwards he took to the road touring and supporting an impressive cast of musicians, Warren Zevon, Steve Earle, The Pretenders, Jimmy Dale Gilmore, to name a few. |
After
two trips to Europe and appearing in festivals he was ready to start recording
his second album. |
