GHYMES
GHYMES, the well-known Hungarian folk group was established in 1984 at Nitra University of Pedagogy, Slovakia. The members of the group were raised on all different kinds of music, some played rock or classical music while others played Renaissance or folk music.
In the beginning, they played Hungarian folk music. Today, Mid - East and South - European music, as well as folk and classical ones meet in the Ghymes group music. Their particular style gradually developed and now their music reflects tenderness, glamour, romantic but also howling surge of energy. Their rhythm became even stricter and harder than before. In addition to the traditional instruments (violin, viola, dulcimer, bagpipes, contrabass, lute, kalabash zither, Turkish pipe), saxophone, drums and synthesizer are also often used. They have been on their way to WORLD MUSIC, when the new style, GHYMES MUSIC, was born. Milos Janousek, a music publicist and a critic wrote that if Stravinsky had composed his Spring Consecration today, he would have done it similarly, as Ghymes did it in its latest album ".

The main goal of their music is to find in what people are alike and not how they differ; to form links among people, races and religions of the entire world. If the musicians open up their hearts on the stage, audience can feel it. That´s real magic for us - says Andor Buják, the saxophonist of Ghymes. That´s the reason why the shows are always welcome in Japan, Jordan, Iraq, Finland, Canada, as well as in the United States.
The Ghymes and the Vujicsics groups are parts of the VENTS D´EST (Eastern Wind), which successfully tours the world for years. The establisher and the leader of the Vents d´Est is Mr. Michel Montanaro, a musician from Provance, France.
