| ERIC VON ESSEN | |||
| Eric
von Essen was known primarily as a bassist who worked with such jazz notables
as Alan Broadbent, Bob Brookmeyer, Art Farmer, Tom Harrell, Sheila Jordan,
Lou Levy, Kenny Kirkland, Warne Marsh, Frank Morgan, Jimmy Rowles, Bud Shank
and Shorty Rogers to name only a few. But Eric was also a brilliant composer
who wrote over a hundred pieces for his friends, colleagues and students. After many years of paying his dues in the L.A. area as a brilliant and tireless performer, Eric spent the last few years of his life teaching and composing in Northern Sweden. Thanks to the dedication of his friends, family and students, much of his music has been recorded by some of his musical colleagues including Alan Broadbent, Alex Cline, Nels Cline, Peter Erskine and many others. |
