| Electric Company is the Solo Project of Brad Laner, frontman for seminal band Medicine, which has just newly reformed after a long hiatus with vocalist Shannon Lee (Bruce Lee's daughter) and signed with a new album coming soon on Wall of Sound records. As Electric Company, Brad Laner has been making extremely leftfield electronic music since long before it was cool with his debut "a part cylic omen" back in 1995 on Def American recordings always making use of guitars and other live instrumentation to complement abstract and twisted electronics much at home on tigerbeat6. Recorded just before, during and after making the upcoming Medicine album for Wall of Sound, "It's Hard To Be A Baby" represents a radical redirection of energy from experimental rythmic sound sculpting toward melody and mood. Comprised of all new songs making use of the infinite possibilities of modern studio technology and hands on guitars, voices and synthesizers giving homage to early Brian Eno, Faust and current artists like Mouse on Mars, Christian Fennesz or Aphex Twin's more melodic work. |
Endlessly interweaving sensual melodic textures and clusters with plenty of the patented Laner "noise as beauty" aesthetic elements alongside casually funky beats, this is the most musically rewarding and dynamic Electric Company album yet. |
