WHAT THE BAND SAYS
As one saw 'New Order' come under the influence of techno music, Lupus has seen the light and we're proponent of a new form of music called Slack-core. "Jump on our train, don't worry, we don't go that fast" says Arika Casebolt. Chris Hamley explains: "It's a smoother approach, but it don't mean we can't pull no joints."

SOMEONE SAYS
Circus Lupus formed in 1990 in Madison, Wisconsin. "Actor" Chris Thomson, formerly of Unrest, Lunchmeat, and Ignition was attending the University of Wisconsin when he met Arika Casebolt, Chris Hamley, and Reg Schrader. They did a number of short tours and released a now sold-out single,"Tightrope Walker"/"Chinese Nitro" on the Cubist Productions label out of Pittsburgh.

 

In 1991 they decided to move to Washington, simultaneously they parted ways with Reg, who was replaced by Seth Lorinczi, who had played in the Vile Cherubs, the Evolution Revolution, and Chrisbald 96. In 1991 they released their first LP, "Super Genius", and contributed a track to the "Lever" compilation released by the Simple Machines label. 1992 saw the release of the single, "Pop Man"/Pressure Point" produced by Joan Jett. It was described as "their first foray into the luxurious salsa/new wave imbroglio". In 1993 their final record, "Solid Brass" came out.
