| 'Al Baraka - the name of the new album by this Moroccan band based in Hungary has religious origin and means something like "providence" or "good luck". Chalaban follow their own path, and what we hear on this album is not only Arabian music - there can be heard instruments like the Brazilian berimbao, the Gypsy cymbalom, the Bulgarian gadulka as well as modern DJ tools. The spiritual message of the album is in its poetry. The musicians were able to go back to their homeland to record a poem by the poet Ahmed Lemseyed, who performs his piece himself on track 5. |
